Water levels in lakes nearly 80% in Mumbai

Mumbai: The steady rainfall has boosted the water quantum in lakes supplying to Mumbai’s needs with levels touching 78.08% or 11.30 lakh million litres on Monday.

Three of the seven lakes have already overflowed and Vihar Lake is close to overflow level. Five gates of Bhatsa Lake were opened up by one metre on Monday evening as a precautionary measure. The lake, however, is still several metres away from overflow.
