Watch where you park: Towing agents use brute force to pry open car doors

Using a thick metal rod to pry open the door of a parked car for towing is still prevalent in parts of the city, despite the obvious damage that it’s likely to cause to the vehicle. A TOI photographer spotted towing agents doing so near Bada Kabrastan at Marine Lines recently. Traffic police officers said this procedure is not recommended but may be resorted to in “absolute emergency” when there is severe congestion on roads and vehicles have to be towed away immediately for restoring smooth flow of traffic.
