Passengers choosing BEST over taxis, autos
Since a downward revision of fares in July, the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) has been seeing a remarkable increase in the number of passengers and has reportedly eaten into the passenger-share of autorickshaws and taxis by 15 to 17 per cent. In the last four months, BEST has witnessed a remarkable increase of over 11 lakh in the average daily passenger count, despite the number of buses having gone down, from the time of fare revision in July, the strength of BEST’s fleet has dropped from 3,337 to 3,198.
