Now, BMC to declare school holidays on heavy rain days

The BMC will henceforth take a call on keeping schools open on heavy rain days and during other emergencies. After facing flak for announcing a school holiday late in the day on a particularly rainy Monday this week when several areas were submerged in water, the government on Wednesday decided to authorize the BMC to take decisions on declaring school holidays. So far, it has been the government’s prerogative to announce such holidays depending on field reports it received from the BMC.
