New tower fire safety policy will boost redevelopment of small private plots

Mumbai: Open space needs to be maintained no one side of a building so that fire engines can access it in cast of a blaze. If there’s a fire evaculation lift, alongside an enclosed staircase, it can be used by residents and firefighters in emergencies. Access to the enclosed staircast from the floor lobby is to be through a fire-resistant door, states the BMS’s new fire safety policy for tall buildings.
