Mumbai traffic cops disconnect power from 50 hoardings at crossings

Mumbai: Ever cringed at hoardings that are too close to the junction, making it tough to view traffic signals? The problem could be history if the traffic police succeed in their crackdown on illuminated hoardings put up within 25 metres of traffic intersections. The police identified 97 such hoardings, sent show-cause notices to the parties concerned and switched off power to 50. The police’s aim is to have the hoardings removed altogether, but the need the BMC’s will to accomplish this.
