Dumping trash in drains? BMC may cut off your water supply
Mumbai: The BMC may disconnect water supply to areas where people repeatedly dump trash in drains.
During a pre-monsoon preparedness meeting held with ward-level officials on Tuesday, municiple commissioner Praveen Pardeshi directed them to penalise locals who, despite several requests, continue to throw garbage into nullahs which have been cleaned. If the penalty fails to work, the next extreme step, he said, would be to cut off the water supply in these ‘dirty’ pockets.
