CR bars long-distance trains from suburban section during rush hour

Central Railway (CR) has decided to bar long-distance trains from the suburban section during rush hours. During an internal review meeting, it was found that 19.75% of local delays were caused by long-distance trains.

According to an official who took part in the meetings, 57.78% of delays are caused by external factors, including level crossing gates (19.39%) and chain pulling (8.14%). More than 30 % of delays are caused by signal and points failures and over 12% by track-related problems.
