BMC to scrap over-priced road bids

Three months after it first floated tenders worth Rs 861 cr, Civic body to cap rates at 10% above its own estimates

The BMC will not pay a ‘bonanza’ to road contractors who had bid high rates and were causing a loss of about Rs 280 crore to the civic body. 40 payment scheme, the civic body has decided to cap the rates at 10 per cent above it own estimates. All tenders where contractors have bid above 10 per cent will be scrapped.
