BMC disaster control room split into two

The BMC’s disaster management control room has been working roundthe-clock out of two separate offices since the news on Monday that two people who worked there – a shift in-charge and a peon-had tested positive for Covid-19. The main control room, located on the second floor of the annexe building at the BMC’s headquarters at CST, now has 12 staff members, while 36 others have been shifted to the shadow control room at Parel. This shadow control room was built in 2017 as an emergency backup, and had only been used once before -during a massive power cut in 2018.
