SoBo tops list of waste generators
The high number of state and central government offices in Colaba-Churchgate are posing difficulties for A-ward office of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to perform better in waste segregation and processing, as the offices take time for required clearances.
The total number of bulk generators of garbage in A-ward is 208, but as per the list in possession of DNA, only 26 bulk generators have complied to the notices sent by BMC on solid waste management (SWM).
It is not only A- ward, but also D-ward of BMC comprising of areas like Grant Road and Malabar Hill, which is performing poor in waste segregation as out of 100 notices served in D-ward, only 26 bulk generators have complied.
