Do not mess up port land like you did mill land

Ports all over the world flourished and subsequently declined with the rise and fall of colonial rules in the last quarter of the twentieth century. Mumbai port continued to flourish after the independence, but began losing business in the last three decades due to number of complex issues, including changes in shipping technology. Hence, a need arose to repurpose the prime land owned by the Mumbai Port Trust on the city’s eastern flank. The port land development is possibly Mumbai’s last chance to improve its lot after the mess that has been made of the mill land development.
