With experts’ help, BMC makes key Wadala crossing safe for walkers

A key intersection near the Wadala police station, that witnessed 4 fatalities in two years within its immediate vicinity, has undergone a transformation to make it safe for road users, particularly pedestrians. The three-way intersection, a meeting point for LM Nadkarni Marg & Sewri-Chembur Rd, had undefined spaces and a lack of pedestrian crossing infrastructure like zebra crossings or dividers. The BMC roped in road safety experts who corrected the intersection geometry & created a pedestrian refuge island. With vehicles moving at lower speeds, locals & school children are now finding it safe to commute.
