All EVMs in Maharashtra to have paper trail units for general elections

Mumbai: For the first time, Maharashtra will see 100% use of the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines alongside the electronic voting machines (EVM) in the upcoming general elections. There will be nearly 95,000 polling booths in the state, and the state chief electotal office has sought 2 lakh EVMs and 1 lakh VVPAT units. Two EVMs can ne attached to one VVPAT unit.
