EC takes note of social media posts citing fake poll dates, calls for people
New Delhi: The Election Commission, taking serious note of a post on social media citing ‘fake’ poll dates for upcoming general election, on Thursday asked Delhi police to investigate the source of the ‘fake’ news.
In a letter to Delhi Police special commissioner (Special cell & technology cell), EC said – “fake news relating to the schedule of General Election 2019 has been found to be in circulation on various social media platforms like Facebook, Whatsapp, etc. The publication of gake news is causing severe confusion to the public thereby creating public nuisance and mischief”.
