Service Charge is Hotels/Restaurants – Central Consumer Protection Authority – Order 4th July 2022
The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) by it’s Order dated 4th July 2022, has barred hotels/restaurants from adding service charge automatically or by default, in any food bill.
Further, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) has issued guidelines on how to file a complaint if the customer finds that he/she has been levied a service charge at any hotel/restaurant.
In violation of the Order, one can file a complaint by:
a) Calling the National Consumer Helpline on 1915 OR through the NCH mobile app
b) Electronically through the e-daakhil portal www.edaakhil.nic.in
c) Email CCPA on com-ccpa@nic.in
