Rs 41 lakh fine netted in crackdown on unsafe school buses in Maharashtra
Mumbai: State advocate general Ashutosh Kumbhakoni informed the Bombay high court on Tuesday that the traffic authorities had begun a drive against unsafe school buses.
A total of 257 school buses and 278 other vehicles that ferry school children in Mumbai had been inspected. Authorities found 113 vehicles, including 32 school buses, violating rules. A fine had been imposed on them and over Rs 1.8 lakh recovered. Across the state, 5,784 school buses were inspected and a fine of over Rs 41 lakh imposed.
