RPF clears 390 khataaras around railway stations

Mumbaikars can now hope to find a parking spot for their vehicles at railway stations as Railway Protection Force (RPF) has kick-started the process of clearing abandoned vehicles from spaces around railway stations in the city.

A total of 390 vehicles were identified, with 154 on Central Railway (CR) and 236 on Western Railway (WR) stations. The vehicles were identified under two categories – vehicles which had been parked for more than five days and whose owners had not come forward to claim them, were identified as ‘abandoned vehicles’, and the vehicles that have been parked for over a day in the railway parking lots were fined under the Railways Act, 1989.
