New provisions of Mumbai Development Plan 2034 open for suggestions
The DP is a blueprint for land use over the next 20 years. It covers areas like affordable housing, promoting development of slum rehabilitation projects, parking authority, redevelopment of dilapidated buildings, high-rise restrictions and regulating open spaces in Mumbai.
When it was announced earlier this month, the DP was divided into two parts – Sanctioned and Excluded. The Sanctioned parts are the final provisions that are ready for implementation. The Excluded Parts (EP) have newly-introduced provisions and changes, suggested by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) planning committee and the state government. Some of the changes suggested by the state are substantial and citizens are invited to send in their suggestions and objections.
