Mumbai: Two more lakes to overflow, 80% lakes filled

One good rainfall is all it will take for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Coporation’s Tansa and Vaitarna lakes to overflow, as they have reached almost to their maximum capacity.

Four lakes of the BMC already started overflowing last week following a good spell of rainfall last fortnight.

As per the data available with Hydraulic Engineering department of BMC, Tansa lake has filled around 99.75 per cent while level of middle Vaitarna is around 97.84 per cent. These two lakes have received 1554 mm and 1549 mm rainfall in their catchment areas, respectively.
