Mumbai: Data, change fancy number plate or lose your licence
Mumbai: For the first time, Mumbai Traffic Police have asked Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) to suspend driving licences of motorists who have been previously caught with fancy number plates, warned to rectify them but were caught again. Between January and mid August, 2,272 motorists were e-challaned for using number plates in Devnagri or in fonts other than those prescribed in Central Motor Vehicle Rules. Traffic police had sent out text messages to each, warning of further action, if not rectified.
