Same MRP across theatres from August 1

Consumers can heave a sigh of relief. From August 1, you will be able to buy all packed items at the same MRP inside malls, multiplexes and airports across the country. So, the cost of a 300 ml soft drink with an MRP of Rs 30 will be the same in your neighbourhood grocery store, supermarket, airport, multiplex and cinema halls from August 1. This will be possible as The Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Amendment Rules, 2017 will come
into effect from August 1. The rider is that one MRP will be applicable for packaged commodities items of the same brand and same quantity. The nufacturers and packers will have to do away with the policy of dual MRP for the same brand and quantity.
