Maharashtra: Pillion-riders aged above 4 must wear helmet
Mumbai: State transport commissioner Shekhar Channe on Monday announced that anyone aged above four riding pillion without a helmet will be punished. This came after the death of a 14-year-old pillion rider, not wearing a helmet, in Wadala during the weekend. He ordered flying squads to conduct checks and has written to city traffic police to fine defaulters. Channe said all 50 RTOs across the state will conduct surprise checks on roads and near schools.
