Maharashtra assembly elections: Outreach plans fail to woo first-time voters
PUNE: Several outreach programmes by the Election Commission of India (EC) have not helped the registration of youth voters improve much in the run up to the Maharashtra assembly elections.
The draft electoral roll released on August 31 revealed that only 2% of the total registered voters were in the age group of 18-19 years. With the assembly elections expected to be held in October, the EC had laid special emphasis on the registration of the voters in this age group.
