Ganeshotsav 2018: 202 noise pollution cases registered; Noise level highest in Santacruz on Ganesh Visarjan; 15 tonnes garbage removed from Dadar beach
Despite a ban by Bombay High Court on high-decibel audio systems and DJs during the festival celebrations, Mumbai Police have received a total of 202 complaints about noise pollution during the Ganesh festival between September 13 and 23. Most of these complaints were proactively collected by specialised units of Mumbai Police.
“Every year, the number of noise pollution is at record high in the city during the Ganesh festival. This is also reflected in the ever increasing number of complaints that we get from citizens on the issue. This year, we decided to take action even before getting the complaints,” said Madhukar Shinde, Mumbai Police’s public relation officer.
