Dengue deaths double in Maharashtra from 21 in 2017 to 44 in 2018
Dengue deaths have nearly doubled in Maharashtra in 2018 as compared to 2017, suggests data from the health department. Forty-four people in the state succumbed to dengue in 2018 as against 21 last year. The highest numbers of deaths — 14 and 12 — were recorded in Kolhapur and Mumbai respectively.
The total number of dengue cases in the state also doubled with 8,192 cases in 2018 as compared to 4,797 last year.
