BMC rakes in Rs 67 L in one month of new parking policy
Within a month of launching a policy against parking on roads within 500-mt-radius of public parking lots (PPLs), the BMC has already collected over Rs 67 lakh in fines from 1,041 vehicles. The average collection has been around Rs 2.22 lakh per day. while the fines have been steady, they were highest at Rs 6 lakh per day during the second week. The lowest collection has been from Chembur and
Mankhurd – a total of Rs 30,000, since the introduction of the policy on July 7. Incidentally, eastern suburbs link Chembur and Mankhurd also have the lowest number of PPLs.
