BMC identifies 299 spots at risk of landslides during monsoon in Mumbai
MUMBAI With the monsoon around the corner, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has identified 299 spots in the city that are prone to landslides. Bhandup tops the list with 161 spots, followed by Ghatkopar (32).
While the Geological Survey of India (GSI) that conducted the survey for the civic body has classified 20 of the 299 spots as ‘most vulnerable’, 40 others are at ‘moderate to high risk’. Sixty-two locations are at no risk. The risky areas in Bhandup and Ghatkopar are on the hill slopes of JM Road, Shivshakti Society and areas near Gaodevi Tekadi.
