1,247 rash drivers lose their licences for three months repeat offenders could be banned from driving for life.
In the past three months, the Mumbai Regional Transport Office (RTO) has suspended the driving licenses of 1,247 motorists in Mumbai for repeated rash driving and signal jumping. Such violations earlier attracted only a fine of between Rs 200 and Rs 500. Last year Mumbai recorded 2,814 road accidents, in which 403 people died.
