How to get a Senior Citizen Certificate?
The Government of India provides several facilities for citizens above the age of 60 years. The senior citizen certificate allows citizens to receive numerous benefits like discounts in Railways, Airlines, Bank interest rates and other benefits. If a senior citizen does not have any document that can be used as proof of age, he/ she must visit any government hospital in their respective locality e.g. St.George Hospital, J.J. Hospital, Nair Hospital, Sion Hospital, etc. The hospitals are authorized to provide a document that can be used as proof of age.
You can acquire an application form from the Collector’s Office:
- Mumbai City District – Ground floor of Old Custom House at Fort, Mumbai 400 001
- Mumbai Suburban District – 10th Floor, Administrative Building, Opp. Chetna College, Bandra (East), Mumbai 400 051.
Timing for submitting applications and collecting the certificates:
- Applications will be accepted between 10.30 am to 1.00 pm
- Certificates will be issued between 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm

The Certificate will be issued normally within 15 days after submission of documents. All documents should be attached to the Application forms that should be signed by the applicant. Applicants should produce all original documents at the time of submission of Documents.

If a person is born in Uttar Pradesh and he has a passport issued in mumbai, does that serve as age proof if in case no age proof is present.
