How Does a Citizen Facilitation Centre Work?
Citizen Facilitation Centres (CFCs) have been established in all the 24 Wards of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), so as to give Civic Services to the Citizens quickly and easily. Citizen Facilitation Centres are situated on the ground floor of the Ward Office and are under the control of the Assistant Commissioner and the supervised by the Office Superintendent.
At the Citizens Facilitation Centres, one can apply for Birth Certificates, Death Certificates, and various types of licences such as Trade Licences, Hoarding and Advertising Permits, Permission for cutting and trimming of trees, registration of Shops & Establishments, and various others.
Complaints by citizens regarding civic facilities can also be lodged at the CFC.
Various payments can also be made through a“One Window System”. Payments can be made in cash or even by cheque for bills of all departments, such as charges for all types of licenses, deposits, charges for Mandap, permission and water charges, among others.
The timing of the Helpdesk in the CFC for submitting applications of Birth and Death Certificates and format A & B of Shops and Establishment Dept. is from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
In the CFC, official papers, letters, and references from the public and by documents received by post are received and acknowledged by the Dispatch Section. Their working hours are from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

We are opening a cafe in versova. Do we need any advertisement license for Signage for our store. If we do where can we apply. It is lighted. Also when we were doing trial someone from BMC came and started calling us on Phone that warrant has been issued against the owner asking for 10000 Rs Bribe because the sign was on.
Is it legal or do we need to get harassed for these minor licenses from them . Also can you tell us the procedure for the Health License as well.

Dear Mr. Wadia,
Apologies for the delay in our reply. Cyber CFCs and Ward CFCs are both Citizens’ Facilitation Centers are meant to provide various municipal services to the Citizens. While CFCs in Municipal Ward Offices are operated and staffed by the MCGM itself, cyber CFCs are run by third party operators, though both offer most of the same services.

In May 26, 2014 I had applied to the Municipality for a change in the name of the Water and House Tax Bills to my name with necessary docs. The Bills to date come in the name of my parents who died long ago. The 2 applications were stamped by the Despatch Dept. of the Municipality.
To date no reply has been received.
What should I do ? Make a RTI application?
Thanks
