How to get an Advertisement Permit?

Permission for display of advertisements by means of neon-signs, wall paintings or letters on balloons and advertisements on business premises such as shops, showrooms, cinema theatres, petrol pumps and offices, etc. is very much an essential part of business today. The provision relating to such display of advertisements are covered under sections 328 and 328A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888.

 

Who issues an Advertisement Permit?

  • The License Department of the MCGM issues an Advertisement Permit

 

How to Apply for an Advertisement Permit?

  • Visit the Citizen Facilitation Center (CFC) nearest to your establishment.
  • The applicant needs to submit the duly completed and signed application form, along with required documents and fees at the CFC.

 

What happens at the CFC and the License Department?

  • The application is sent from the CFC to the License Department
  • As a further process the application is assigned to and processed by Department Head (Sr. Inspector License) of the License Department at the concerned Ward.
  • After site inspection and approval of the application, the scheduled fees are collected and the permit is issued to the applicant.

 

The following are the different documents required to obtain an Advertisement Permit and other related formalities:

Processing Duration Nil for Renewal and Duplicate certificate application as the certificate will be delivered at the time of submission of valid application along with applicable fees.
Seven days (per scrutiny level) for all other applications from the date of submission of valid application along with required documents.

Movable Advertisement Permit – u/s 328 of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888

Permission for display of any type of advertisements displayed on a vehicle falls under this category and needs special approval. The provision relating to such display of advertisements are covered under sections 328 and section 328A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888.
