Calling on all CHS Office Bearers!
Calling on all Office Bearers of Cooperative Housing Societies, you will be a great help this Vidhan Sabha Elections to the Election Commission and to all Voters!
A few months ago, our Country witnessed the Lok Sabha (Parliamentary) Elections. Elections take place every five years with flurry of activities. All Political Parties are hugely energised. Roadside as well as drawing room debates are a common sight!
Similarly the States also witnesses the Vidhan Sabha (Assembly) Election, also every five years. This year, as per schedule, Maharashtra goes to Polls on 15th October!
Major activities are afoot and we are all geared up!
Amongst the many issues which our Trust V Citizens Action Network (VCAN) deals with, election related matters have a high priority. The Trust’s role is that of a Facilitator Organization.
The Trust assists the Election Commission of India, Maharashtra State, in the capacity of an authorised Facilitator Organization, in creating awareness and facilitating the revision of electoral rolls, particularly by way of Implementation of Section 79A of the Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act. This is to ensure a high voter turnout and put in place voter friendly processes which could be the benchmark for future elections. This is an ongoing process and we carry out all this work along with our Networking Partners.
As per Section 79 A of the Maharashtra Co-operative Societies Act, 1960 vide Government Circular in Co-operation Department No. SGY 2009/C.R.235/14-s dated 19th April 2010; all BLOs (Booth Level Officers) are to be given voluntary support by the “Office Bearers” of Co-operative Housing Societies.
The Collector of the Mumbai City District has issued a circular to all housing societies, you can view it by clicking here.

You can read our step by step guide here.
In the days to come, I will be sharing other developments regarding Elections in the days to come.
