Most bikers shun helmets for short rides, finds survey
Mumbai: A survey on helmet usage across 18 Indian cities has shown that riding short distances is the most common excuse given by motorcyclists for not wearing a helmet. Of the 2,400 motorcyclists interviewed, 80% of those from Delhi, Kolkata, Patna and Guwahati citied this reason. In Mumbai, 60% of the respondents said they ride helmetless when they don’t expect a traffic policeman to be posted on their route.
