Central Railway to lift speed limits at 3 places, trains expected to be more punctual
With Central Railway (CR) commuters fuming over train delays, officials have decided to remove speed restrictions at Vidyavihar, Thane and Dombivli.
Trains at Thane currently move at 30 kmph, as the speed is regulated by clamping magnets fixed on the rails. According to officials, these magnets were put in place back in 2012 as motormen had a tendency to overspeed while crossing the neutral section, where the switch from direct current to alternation current took place.
