Operation Khataara: Over 2,000 khataaras cleared from Juhu

With a sizeable number of vehicles gone, the biggest scrapyard in the city can now accommodate ones abandoned by the side of the road.

Continuing its crackdown on clunkers, the BMC cleared over 2,000 abandoned vehicles from its Juhu Junkyard last week making space for the ones that were clogging streets across the city.

Juhu junkyard near JVPD market off Cooper Hospital measuring 70,000 sq ft (nearly 2 acrea), which is also the city’s biggest khataara dump, had been clogged by vehicles for years hampering the disposal of those abandoned by the side of roads and in alleys.
