How to Complain Against Errant Telemarketers
In today’s day and age acquiring a person’s contact details is far simpler than ever before. Taking advantage of this are many unsolicited telemarketers who call at any hour of the day bringing a halt to your routine.
The following are a few simple ways to lodge a complaint that will bring an end to this particular ordeal:
Register a complaint
If you receive unsolicited commercial communications a week after registration of your telephone number in the NCPR, register a complaint by:
- Calling or sending an SMS to 1909 (Toll free)
Points to remember:
- Registered the complaint from the telephone number on which you received the unsolicited commercial communication.
- Make the complaint within three days of receipt of the unsolicited commercial communication
Register a Complaint – Dial 1909
Dial 1909 and choose one of the following:
- A customer care executive
- IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System)
Register a Complaint – Customer Case Executive
- Dial 1909 and select the option for Customer Care Executive
- Provide the following details of the unsolicited commercial communication:
- Particulars of the telemarketer
- The telephone number of the unsolicited commercial communication
- The date and time of the call
- A brief description of the unsolicited commercial communication
- The customer care executive will register the complaint and will give you a unique complaint number
- Keep the unique complaint number safely
- The status of your complaint will be communicated to you within 7 days
Register a Complaint – SMS to 1909
- Register your complaint by sending an SMS to 1909 in the format given below –
“COMP TEL NO XXXXXXXXXX, dd/mm/yy, Time hh:mm”
Where XXXXXXXXXX is the telephone number or header of the SMS, as the case may be, from which the unsolicited commercial communication has originated
- A unique complaint number will be sent to you through an SMS
- The status of your complaint will be communicated to you within 7 days
By following these simple steps you will be free of those pesky telemarketers permanently.
