World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims – A Social Sanchar

We must always remember that the phrase “My Safety, My Life” not only means that our lives are in our own hands, but also that the lives of others rest in our hands as well. Instead of thinking that our safety is at the mercy of others, we must ensure that we do all we can to ensure safe roads; if everyone thinks this way, we can actually achieve safer road conditions and reduce fatalities from traffic accidents.

Sharing a small extract from a Report on Road Accidents in India 2014 by Government of India, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways:

Rapid expansion in road network, motorization and urbanization in the country has been accompanied by a rise in road traffic accidents resulting into injuries, fatalities, disabilities and hospitalization with severe socio-economic costs across the country. Road safety has become an issue of concern at national as well at the international level. The United Nations has rightly proclaimed 2011-20 as the Decade of Action on Road Safety.

We were invited by Social Media Week – Mumbai 2015 to partner with them and conduct our TogetherVCAN’s Social Sanchar at their event. There were many Social Causes we could promote, but without any hesitation we took up “My Safety, My Life” and invited Shri Milind Bharambe, Jt. Commissioner of Police, Traffic (Mumbai), to be our Guest Speaker and Partner with us in the Cause!

Today, November 15th, on the occasion of World Remembrance Day for Road Traffic Victims, we organised a Tweet Chat with Mr. Bharambe, and what an experience it was!!

We had over 8 lakh views, and were trending at No. 1 at Mumbai and India levels!

This Tweet Chat was the precursor to TogetherVCAN’s Social Sanchar to be held on Friday 20th November’15 at the SMW Mumbai 2015!! @Together_VCAN #MySafetyMyLife

Join us on Friday for the full length Social Sanchar and become a part of the #MySafetyMyLife Movement!
