Rising temperatures, coal shortages lead to shortfall of 2,000 MW.

The situation of increased demand and decreased generation has led to a demand-supply gap of nearly 2,000 MW resulting in power cuts in many parts of the state, including satellite towns of Mumbai such as Thane, Navi Mumbai, and Kalyan-Dombivali.
