State High alert for stormy 9, 11 & 12

After the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rains in Mumbai and Konkan over the next few days, the state’s disaster management cell has issued orange and red warnings in Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri for today and tomorrow, and a high alert for Saturday in Mumbai, Thane, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Raigad areas for heavy to extremely heavy rains.

The Orange warning is for the administration and citizens to be prepared, and Red is an instruction for vigil and action. An officer at the disaster management cell said that Mumbai may experience a flashback of August and September 2017 as rainfall is expected to fall between 250-350 mm.
