Sion Flyover may be shut in November, December
The busy Sion Flyover on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road may be completely or partially closed on certain days between October-end and December for maintenance. Then repair work may lead to traffic snarls on the Eastern Express Highways as the
flyover is a crucial connect between suburbs and island city. The Rs 1.9 crore overhaul will see replacement of the flyover’s bearings located between its pillars and viaduct girders. The flyover’s expansion joints between girders will
also be replaced. A senior MSRDC official said they expect the delivery of the new bearings within a couple of weeks and will soon seek permission from the traffic police for closure.
