Mumbai: Plastic in roadworks still in paper after one year of plan

Its almost a year, the plan of using plastic waste in roadworks is still on paper. The Road Department of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has not used plastic for even a single road in the city. The department says that it is currently studying plastic compatibility in Mumbai’s roads and availability of provider.

In August 2017, the BMC administration had stressed on waste segregation and processing of waste in housing societies as its dumping grounds have reached to saturation level and the civic body has to look for other ways to process waste.
