Mumbai: Central Railway got 66 new suburban services this year
Mumbai: The Central Railway on Sunday announced that it introduced 66 new suburban services and 49 extension of setvices in 2018 for convenience of its more than 40 lakh daily commuters.
The CR suburban services increased from 1,706 to 1,772 daily, which helped to reduce overcrowding to some extent, officials said. The services on Trains-Harbour were increased from 246 to 262, While Harbour line, whose commuters keep demanding more trains, got ten new services. For secourity, the CR installed 206 new CCTV cameras at six stations. The cameras were fixed in ladies coaches of 24 EMU rakes. And to avoice accidents, the height of all platforms in the suburban section on Main and Harbour lines in Mumbai division were raised to 900mm.
