Government to hire 2,700 vehicles for poll duty in Mumbai

Mumbai: The transport department on Friday decided to requisition around 2,700 vehicles for poll duty in Mumbai region. This is aroun 10% more vehicles than what was hired during the last Lok Sabha elections. Nearly Rs 1 crore will be spent to procure these vehicles, sources said. The government will deploy Kaali Peeli taxis, BEST / MSRTC buses, private tourist buses, autos, tempos and trucks for poll duty.
