241 pumps to be used at Metro sites across Mumbai to prevent flooding this monsoon

After Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar said the Brihamumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) cannot be held responsible for water-logging near Metro sites, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) has decided to install 241 dewatering pumps at Metro sites, where there is possibility of water logging.

The decision was taken in the pre-monsoon meeting of three agencies – the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and MMRCL.

Along with 241 dewatering pumps from MMRCL, the total number of pumps that will be working this monsoon will be 436. For better coordination with BMC during monsoon, both theagencies have also announced to assign nodal officers.
