Election 2019

The Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha Elections are due this year.

The Election Commission of India has announced the dates for the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, which are being conducted in seven phases beginning from 11th April, with the results being announced on 23rd May. The Code of Conduct is now in place till 27th May.

Maharashtra’s 48 seats will be covered in four phases on the 11th (7 seats), 18th (10 seats), 23rd (14 seats), and 29th (17 seats) of April, 2019. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s 10 seats will vote on 29th April (Phase 4).

All Indian Citizens who are 18 years of age (or above), on 1st January 2019 should register themselves as Voters, in case they haven’t already done so.

This also includes Persons with Disabilities, as well as those who are in the category of Third Gender.

For Voters with Disabilities, the ECI has launched a special app. To know more about the app and its features, and to download it, click here.

The Election Officials have also arranged for free transport through wheelchair accessible taxis and some buses. These vehicles will be allowed till the entrance of the Polling Station. From there, 2 dedicated BLOs will take charge of the PwD. There will also be volunteers from NSS, and Scouts assisting within the polling station. Once inside the booth, Police will help individual PwDs as may be required.

Those who are already registered and have been issued Voter ID Cards, should also verify if their names still appear, as the Election Commission has recently “cleaned up” the Electoral Rolls and some genuine voter profiles may have been inadvertently removed.

Please note that simply possessing a Voter ID Photo Card does not mean that you can vote! Your name MUST be on the Electoral (Voter) Roll, if it’s not there, you will NOT be able to vote.

Mumbai City area is covered under 2 Districts: Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburbs. Each District is further divided into Assembly Constituencies (for Vidhan Sabha) and Parliamentary Constituencies (for Lok Sabha). To view the list of Constituencies, click here.

To know more about the Electronic Voting Machines (EVM), and the Voter Verification Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) that will be fully implemented in Lok Sabha Elections for the first time, you may click here.

To check if your name already appears in the Electoral Roll, there are several ways to do so:

  • Download the ‘Voter Helpline’ Android App
  • Go online at www.nvsp.in, and follow the instructions

              Dear VCAN Team,

I’d like to thank you for this is an extremely great initiative from your end. Your website is very informative and helpful.

I have been trying to obtain a voter’s ID for my Managing Director – Mr. Rohitashwa Poddar since a long time. Have filled online forms and submitted the required documents. After submission I followed up with the ECI people and called all the numbers given to me but all my efforts in vain. This time once again have filled the form 6 for Mr Poddar and Submitted. Again the same situation. On seeing this website on my MD’s mail I have decided to try through your team. My Director resides at Brij Kutir CHS, Napeansea Rd & belongs to 185 – Malabar Hill, Bhimabai Rane Municipal School, Rajaram Ram Mohan Roy Marg, Near Central Plaza Cinema, Mumbai 400 004. Shri Ashok Sanap (23679153/9967977259)

Spoke to Mr Sanap but he says he belongs to another constituency & cannot help.

I just need to submit the hard copy to the required documents, photograph & Form 6. Only problem is that Mr Poddar being extremely busy cannot be physically present for the submission of his documents. So would like to know two things 1) Can anyone else submit his documents on his behalf and 2) Is the above address correct to submit the documents.

              Thanks & Regards
              Penelope

2)The address above is correct. For 185 – Malabar Hill, the Tahsil Name & Address is Mumbai
