Model Building Bye-Laws of the Ministry of Urban Development

The Ministry of Urban Development Model Building Bye-Laws are a set of standards for various aspects of a building. The bye-laws have eight chapters that deal with topics like building requirements, development codes and structural safety to name a few.

 

Chapter Seven of The Ministry of Urban Development Model Building Bye-Laws deals with fire safety and protection in the case of categories of high rise buildings in Mumbai, such as Assembly, Institutional, Educational (which are more than two storied and built-up area exceeds 1000 sq m), Business (where plot area exceeds 500 sq m.), Mercantile (where aggregate covered area exceeds 750 sq m.), Hotels, Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Underground Complexes, Industrial Storage, Meeting or Banquet Halls, and Hazardous Occupancies.
