What is the Structure of the MCGM?

Mumbai is the financial capital of India and requires a strong Administrative Body to ensure that it runs like a well-oiled machine. Mumbai’s Civic Governance is looked after by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM), which is led by the Mayor of Mumbai and is divided into two wings. These wings are called the Deliberative Wing and the Executive Wing, which is also called the Administrative Wing.

The Dy. Mayor heads the Deliberative Wing along with the Leader of the House, Leader of the Opposition and the Chairmen of the Standing, Improvements, Education and B.E.S.T. Committees.

The Mayor, Dy. Mayor and all the heads of the committees are elected from amongst the Councillors.

There is also a Joint Municipal Commissioner under them, in charge of Disaster Management and who is the liaison officer of B.C. Cell.
